Balancing Your Crown Chakra With Crystals And Essential Oils

Near the very top of your head lies your highest chakra- the crown chakra, which is known as the Sahasrara in Sanskrit. Associated with a light violet color, and the serene sound of silence, this chakra forms the sacred connection between your being and the expansive Universe beyond. This is where you experience feelings of transcendence, bliss, and liberation, some of the highest planes of experience that exist. Arguably the most complex chakra, the crown is not concerned with the trappings of earthly life, but calls you forth to feel the oneness of the Divine. When this chakra is blocked, you may experience constant worry, depression, apathy, and be unable to find your purpose, but when the crown is open and balanced, you live each day in deep connection to the Universe, feel compassion for all, and stride confidently in your sacred calling.
Since the crown chakra is so complex and esoteric, it may be difficult to find ways to nourish it that work for you. However, most people find great success with things like meditation, prayer, acts of service, connecting with a spiritual community, and of course, using crystals and oils to amplify the 7th chakra energy. Many natural elements like crystals and oils carry a high enough vibration to cleanse and open the crown, and the ones I'll go through today are perfect for this purpose.

Stones for the Crown Chakra
1. Clear quartz
The most universal and well-loved crystal, clear quartz is known as the “master healer”, and works well on all the chakras, but most notably on the 7th. It transmutes energy unlike any other crystal, helps you connect to your higher spirit guides, and blocks negative influences. Clear quartz supports other stones and crystals, and amplifies their energies as well.
2. Rainbow moonstone
Known as the stone of the high priestess, or the “goddess stone”, moonstone has been prized for centuries for its feminine powers. The silvery glow brings the wisdom of the celestial bodies, and helps all humans tap in to their inner divine feminine. It can help you get in tune with the sacred rhythms of the Universe, and deepen your inner world of reflection, wisdom, and intuition.
3. Selenite
A powerful cleansing and protective stone, selenite is popular for clearing away negative energies. Many people sleep with selenite under their beds to keep away bad dreams and invite the presence of angelic guides. This shimmery white stone carries a high vibration that can accelerate your spiritual growth, aid in psychic development, and help you let go of earthly concerns.
4. Diamond
There are two “types” of diamonds that work well for aiding the crown chakra- the traditional carbon-based diamond that is popular in fine jewelry, and something called the Herkimer diamond, which is a more rare form of crystal quartz. Both contain extremely high vibrations that aid in spiritual ascension and contact with the world beyond. Pure and sparkly, these stones are ideal in meditation, channeling, and psychic work.
5. Celestite
The name of this stone comes from the Latin word for “heaven”, and it carries a strong connection to the sky above. Light whitish blue in color, celestite is a soft stone that is wonderful for cleansing, raising your level of thinking, and gently coaxing open the crown to fill you with warmth and light. It’s a wonderful stone to keep in your bedroom or meditation space, to bring the energy of the clouds and of spaciousness.
Essential Oils for the Crown Chakra
1. Frankincense
Considered one of the most holy and precious resins in the world, frankincense is both sweet and woody, and is used often in fragrance and skin care applications. This oil is popular in spiritual practice, through incense, room diffusion, or topical use, to aid in meditation and prayer. It is strong without being overpowering, and is great to use right before yoga, meditation, or practicing one of the intuitive arts.
2. Rosewood
Rosewood is traditionally used in the making of mala beads, so it’s fitting that the essential oil would also hold spiritual significance. A little-known oil with underrated powers, spikenard is a fresh and herbaceous oil that has been used in holy ceremonies in ancient times. This oil is good at helping you release past traumas that may be blocking your ability to ascend to higher planes, as well as calming any fears or apprehension you may have regarding your spiritual growth. Spikenard is also great for easing tension and promoting dream communication.
5. Sandalwood
One of the most revered oils in the world, sandalwood is adored by people of all spiritual paths for its ability to deepen meditative states and help us reach profound truths. Sandalwood is sweet and woody, and works well as incense, a topical perfume, or in a diffuser.
