Our sacral chakra, called the Swadhisthana in Sanskrit, is associated with the color orange and the element of water. It forms the power center for our creative and passionate being, and lies in our lower abdomen, around the area of the female reproductive organs. This chakra reigns over things like desire, sexuality, enthusiasm or zest for life, and expression of self. When your sacral chakra is open and balanced, you will feel alive, sensual, and able to express yourself through creative pursuits. When it is out of balance, however, you may feel clingy, hypersensitive in relationships, use sex as an unhealthy outlet (or refrain from sex at all), have trust issues, or experience creative block.
The 2nd chakra, in all its vibrant orange glory, is an important center in our emotional body, and when it’s working well, you will feel open, connected, and exuberant. There are many ways that you can open and heal the sacral chakra, including certain yoga poses, dance and other movement, and meditation, but right now let’s explore the ways you can use crystals and oils to bring about healthy sensuality and creativity!
