8 Ways To Raise Your Vibration

Hello dear friends!

As more and more people realize that we are all energetic beings, the importance of energy hygiene becomes more apparent. We are always shifting and always emitting our own unique vibration, whether or not we are aware of it, and those subtle frequencies can affect our moods, how our bodies feel, and how we appear to others. Energy is a distilled form of communication, and those messages are read and received by every cell in our bodies, as well as picked up by the other people around us. And yes, you can pick up others’ energy too! Vibration is a two-way street, and it’s often more powerful than we give it credit. While eating the right food, moving our body, and reducing stress are all extremely important to our healing, perhaps we should be paying more attention to the subtleties in our energy field? Here may lie the key to a deep and profound level of healing that we simply haven’t been accessing!

Over the years, I have noticed that my own physical challenges often presented new opportunities for spiritual and emotional growth, and I have allowed myself to be transformed by my traumas. Despite everything I have been through (or maybe because of it), I am more aware, engaged, and open-hearted, and I now understand the importance of energy when it comes to repairing and preventing damage on all levels- body, mind, and spirit. It has taken practice to get to this point, and I am certainly still learning day by day, but when I can tap into my true self and take stock of how I’m feeling on a vibrational level, I am able to make even better informed decisions when it comes to my health. And that’s freakin’ empowering!

You may be thinking to yourself that all of this sounds too “woo-woo” for you, and maybe you’re getting ready to stop reading right here. But hear me out. We are made of matter, and all matter has energy- it all emits a vibration. From your spinning atoms, to the water molecules in your cells, and the millions of biochemical reactions taking place within you right now; these tiny shifts mean that you are a vibrant and electrical creature. Your nerves are firing, your muscles are contracting, your brain is thinking thoughts- and all of these things have their own energetic fingerprint. How you feel, act, think, and the image you project into the world is the accumulation of all of these individual fingerprints at any given moment. Pretty cool, huh? And even cooler is the fact that we can harness this idea to support our own body’s healing processes!

If you have been feeling disconnected, overtaxed, or have just been feeling “off” lately, you may be in need of some energetic hygiene. Or if you simply want to feel brighter, more alive, and power up your luminosity, you have to think in terms of raising your vibration. There are many ways to do this, but these are my favorite eight, all of which I currently do and have found tremendous success with.

1. Eat more raw fruits and veggies

Over the past couple of years, I have found myself being drawn to the raw food lifestyle, which emphasizes tons of raw, fresh produce, especially fruit, and a complete absence of processed, cooked, or adulterated food. Since these delicious foods are in their whole and natural state, they contain all the vibrations of the sun, the soil, the water, and all the innate bioavailable compounds that nature intended. I was hesitant to try at first, but once I had a few fully raw meals in me, I actually felt so good it was like being high- I kid you not! You don't have to go 100% raw to reap the benefits- just one raw meal a day is a great start.

2. Rethink your social circle

This one is so incredibly important, especially if you are an empath like me. I pick up all the “stuff” from my environment, and when that environment is filled with pessimistic, narcissistic, and hard-hearted people, I end up feeling worse because of it. Over time, and especially after my divorce, I started weeding out the sources of bad energy in my circle, and I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. We are naturally responsive to the people we surround ourselves with, so be sure that those people support you and nourish you (and you return the favor)!

3. Clean up your speech

Yes, the words that come out of your mouth have their own vibration, and can have a huge impact on your health. Your words have the power to hurt or to heal, both other people and yourself, so pay extra close attention to your language. How do you talk to yourself? How do you talk about others? What thoughts are on repeat in your head every day? Being mindful allows us to make changes to support more encouraging and positive speech, and that can transform your relationships- with yourself, loved ones, acquaintances, and even strangers. One fun challenge to help with this: cut out complaining for a day, or week or month.

4. Meditate regularly

This works in two ways- by grounding yourself in your own body and experiences, and opening your heart to the world around you. Even just ten minutes of meditation per day can alter your brainwaves, balance your neurochemistry, and sharpen your social skills. There are many different ways to meditate out there, each with their own unique benefits. I personally love simple mindfulness/nonjudgmental awareness meditation, loving-kindness or metta meditation, and visualization/manifestation meditation. Find an easy way to incorporate this practice into your life- set a timer on your phone, make a little “mindfulness corner” in your home, and/or download some apps on your phone like Insight Timer, Pacifica, or Headspace.

5. Get enough sleep

I cannot emphasize this one enough- when you allow your brain to relax and recuperate from your day, you encourage a healthy balance of brain chemicals and a more open state of being. When I’ve had a crappy night of sleep, I can certainly feel that my vibration is low the next day, which makes me feel worse and probably isn’t fun for the people around me. Plus, I have a harder time accessing my patience, compassion, and joy when I’m sleep deprived. Do your best to get more restorative sleep at night, take naps during the day, or slip into deep relaxation more often with things like yoga nidra.

6. Practice random acts of kindness

We are all connected on an energetic level, so when you can extend your happiness through little acts of service, we all can benefit. Even doing small and simple things for both strangers and people you know can make you feel amazing, make you feel engaged in your world, and can brighten someone else’s day. Being closed off and too self-concerned does not support your innate healing mechanisms, but reaching out and spreading love certainly does!

7. Work with crystals

For those willing to go a bit more “out there,” crystals and stones are a fantastic introduction to energy and how it affects our bodies and minds. I’ve been playing with crystals for a few years now, and I’ve found great benefit for my own healing practices, and I use them in sessions with clients too. You may feel particularly drawn to certain stones, and I encourage you to follow your intuition here. I do recommend learning about certain crystals that have specific properties for sleep, pain relief, heartache, etc… but also exploring and seeing what calls to you. Some of my fave resources are the Stone app, the Crystal Bible, and Crystal Muse.

8. Invest in energy work

Because the best kind of healing happens on a very deep and subtle level, getting regular energy work is a fantastic way to create a positive shift in your life, no matter what you are trying to achieve. Reiki, and other forms of energy work, get to the root of the issue, and help to nourish and support whatever is best for you, allowing you to raise your own vibration, attract healthy relationships, and feel physically better as well.

In order to raise your vibration and heal your life, you need to have the courage and vulnerability to look within you, and really get honest about how you’re feeling and what things feed your soul. Many of you have probably spent time in therapy, writing in a journal, or in meditation already, so you’re ahead of the curve. Realizing you are a luminous, energetic being is the first step to taking control of your life, your health, and your future, and doing these eight things will definitely get you well on your way to feeling vibrant, empowered, and joyful again.
